The History of Erotic E-Stim

In the 1950's a device was introduced called the Relaxacisor. It offered a means of "passive exercise" where electrical currents were used to stimulate the muscles while the person relaxed. Such products still exist today and are known as EMS (Electro Muscle Stimulation) devices.

It didn't take long for people to find alternate uses for their Relaxacisors! Some found that placing the contact pads in erotic areas on the body produced some interesting sensations and effects. Hence, erotic electrostimulation was born.

In the late 1970's, the medical profession came up with TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation). TENS units were designed for physical therapy and pain management. They have a numbing effect on the nerves and are often sent home with patients suffering from chronic back pain as a form of self-administered pain relief. Despite the numbing effect being less than ideal for erotic use, many patients found erotic uses for the TENS units too.

In the early 1980's, the first e-stim products marketed for erotic use were introduced. They were very crude and simplistic, but nonetheless created a loyal following due to the lack of alternatives at the time. Most users, however, ended up wanting more power and more variety.

In the late 1990's, ErosTek was founded with the goal of creating a family of advanced erotic e-stim devices unlike anything available on the market. After extensive development work and applying for patent protection, ErosTek introduced the world's first digital e-stim device designed expressly for erotic use – the ET-201R remote power unit. It offered 10 unique modes of operation, radio remote control, built-in microphone for sound-based stimulation and many other ground-breaking new features. It set a new standard.

Since that first product, ErosTek has continued to innovate and in now shipping its third generation of 100% digital e-stim products. ErosTek listens to its customers while continuing to improve and develop more exciting and useful products. If you have any helpful suggestions or feedback, please let us know.
